Foxy Facial Hair

A clean-cut boy was never my style. I  love the bearded man. The hairy, beastly, wild, untamed man. The man that said no to the razor...and yes to the scotch...on the rocks. When I was a kid my dad had a Mexi-stache (being Mexican and all -and it was the late 80's, who didn't have a horrible mustache), and I hated it. He'd kiss my cheek and I'd get scraped by the itching thing. I always told myself that I didn't want a boyfriend with any itchy facial hair...that was until I grew up and decided beards aren't bad....beards arent bad at all...

 Ryan Gosling....of course.

Ryan Reynolds...says he doesnt like to be clean shaven...good....very good.

Jon Hamm - says he's glad he's not a sexy person like Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds responded with "I think all the mirrors in Jon Hamm's house are broken."

Robin Pecknold (singer of Fleet Foxes) - I took this picture last summer. Love this man.

Hugh Jackman...one would be crazy if they wrote a post about facial hair and didn't mention Hugh Jackman.

Scott Avett (one of the singers of the Avett Brothers) - I've got a thing for musicians...and I've got a thing for beards. Scott Avett was just a natural choice.

Dan Van Horn (AKA: The Boyfriend)

Being an Oregonian and all...the only thing you see more than beards are Priuses.

Pinteresting

Okay....I have to admit...I'm a pinner. I'm addicted to pinning it....pinning it real good. I recently set up my Pinterest. I know! It's been on there forever...and I never set up an account because I thought it sounded silly (and I didnt know how it worked so I thought it sounded hard ha)! But now I cant stop! I want to pin every picture I see. I have a board for a wedding (who doesn't though), and I'm not even engaged! Silly really...if my boyfriend found out he may just hit the road...this pinning is some crazy sh*t! When I'm pinning I'm not really being crazy...but Pinterest is set up to make me look like a crazy person. Like I'm putting a pin in this...and in this...and in this!

Anyway enough of these crazy pinsessed rants. I only have 6 boards right now...but I see that number growing soon. Yes....quite soon. My favorite thing to do now is go down my reader list and pin my heart on of the blogs I follow!!!

Favorite pins you say?

Mormon Mom Skirt - to - Summer Scarf

August, you’ve come so soon. I don’t mind though. I know summertime is full of BBQ’s, sunny afternoons, warmness, swimming pools, yard sales, ice cream, rooftop bars, summer dresses, lake trips, beach trips, weekend getaways, lemon drops….lots and lots of lemon drops. And tons of other fun crap…but for me summer has not been good…it has not been good at all.

I’ve been so busy with homework (yes…summer classes…the worst classes…too…cooooompressed), working full-time (although I do this year-round), weekends stuck doing research for law cases (a word from the not-so-wise…DON’T TAKE A BUSINESS LAW CLASS IN A 8 WEEK SUMMER TERM!), and Facebook creeping/hating on my friends who are actually having a California-like-picturesque summer.

Even though I’ve been leaving like the pale kids from the cartoon Recess…I did have time to make the most hideous “Mormon-mom” (NO OFFENSE TO ACTUAL MORMON MOM’S…my best friend Dana, a Mormon herself gave it that name), into an awesome breezy summer scarf (the likes of which I shall not wear for lack of actually going outside).

When I say I’m craftarded….I REALLY MEAN IT. But this was so easy. No sewing just scissors.

And there you have it...easy as pie...never mind pie is so hard to make...easy as apple. You don't have to bake an apple.

Moonrise Kingdom

I had been meaning to write about this lovely little Wes Anderson film. I thought Moonrise Kingdom was enchanting. And the little actors did amazing. And of course in true Wes Anderson form, the music was fantastic. Especially the song below by Francoise Hardy (the song where the children danced).

You Touch Me, I Hear The Sound of Mandolins

I’m so in love with Nina Simone right now. Her voice is so different. Its strangely beautiful. Powerful. The first time I heard this song I think I was 18. My brother Marcos had picked me up from work and drove me home with the windows rolled down and we listened to David Bowie (he covered this song in 1976), sing “You touch me, I hear the sound of mandolins, you kiss me with your kiss my life begins. You’re spring to me, all things to me…don’t you know you’re life itself?”. The song was fu**ing magical to say the LEAST. And then I heard Nina Simone (she covered this song in 1959), sing it and now I’m completely torn on which is best. So I’m just going to say they’re both best. Both amazing. Both moving. Both perfect.

My sister thought Nina Simone was a man when she first heard her sing. She's got an unconventional beauty to match that unconventional voice.

Is there anyone that you think is unconventionally beautiful?
